COMPASS

COMPASS is an untimed, computer-adaptive college placement test given at Kentucky high schools to grade 12 students that have not met the Council on Postsecondary Education's (CPE) benchmarks on the ACT.

Meeting the benchmarks on this assessment benefits

  • Students and Parents by allowing placement into college credit-bearing courses
  • Schools by improving the College and/or Career Readiness Rate
  • Postsecondary institutions by reducing the need for remedial classes.

Prior to administering the COMPASS assessment, all proctors must have completed a COMPASS training session offered by the Kentucky Department of Education.

ONLINE COMPASS TRAINING SERIES
This series of voice-over PowerPoints covers several topics, including how to administer the COMPASS assessment to students and how to create reports. Requests for this training method must come from the District Assessment Coordinator and are made through the e-mail address at the bottom of the page.

 

Trainings - September & October 2011

Schools that were not established as COMPASS Test Sites will need to complete and return the COMPASS School Registration Form. The form is available on the right under Additional Resources.

COMPASS Update Training - completed as a refresher for returning administrators and proctors. This webinar was recorded and is available at any time.
