Prichard Committee chief, Stu Silberman, was honored by National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL) as Outstanding Support for Early Language Learning for his work while superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools. Under Silberman's leadership the number of world language programs in Lexington quadrupled, with 13 new elementary programs, including new Chinese and Japanese and three Spanish immersion programs, where students learn in Spanish for half of the day and in English for the other half.
